Poor food poor service expensive Food was poor. Service was poor. The Sunday roast was tasteless and we even had to ask for roast potatoes. Coffee was in half cups. Expensive . Only wished I complained at the time. Spoilt fathers day with our family. No where to park. Queues to get drinks . Grumpy stressed staff . Would not recommend. Maybe it was just because some army stuff was going on outside .

We didn’t want to leave. We stayed the night at this lovely location, booking through Air B&B. We highly recommend this gem of a place! Everything exceed our expectations. Lovely extra large room with sofa, fridge, kettle smart TV with Netflix etc. spotlessly clean. The 2 rooms available had an adjoining door, perfect for families, these where located in the pretty beer garden of the pub, where we enjoyed spending a few hours. The pub itself was very welcoming with helpful happy staff and the meals were beautiful. Leanne the owner was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back. Thanks 👍

A gem off the beaten track Having arrived a week ago at our holiday accommodation in Portesham we headed out to The Brewers Arms. The pub itself is in a quaint rural village and looks inviting from the road, with plenty of parking. As soon as we entered we were made to feel very welcome by Amy at the bar. We ordered the pork belly bites (to die for!) and mains of steak (very generous 10oz sirloin), Sicilian chicken and scampi. All of which were excellent. We were all so impressed we returned again tonight and once again were not disappointed! Would not hesitate to recommend this pub to anyone. A bit off the beaten track but worth deviating for not just for the food but for the welcome and being made to feel just as important/valued as a local. We hope to be back in Dorset later in the year and all being well will definitely be back to this little gem. Thank you Amy for looking after us so well.

Disappointed Venison was very tough! Can’t see how it’s no:2 on Trip Advisor! The Sun Inn is much better but only ranked at No:8!

Fantastic New Spring Menu with a Nod to South Asia Fantastic new menu with an asian twist. Ive just had the chicken satay & the Top Hats (delicious Vietnamese pastries). Ive traveled extensively in South East Asia & these are authentic & delicious. I understand James the Chef is a native Tasmanian who’s worked all over Asia & you can tell straight away that he has the spicing on point. The welcome, attention and willingness to please and make our group happy is possibly the best ever example of customer service I have ever experienced any where in Dorset. Bravo to the Brewers Arms team !

Sunday visit for a roast dinner… We went for a Sunday roast. We had high hopes from reading the reviews, we were disappointed to be honest, Yorkshire pudding was very overcooked & burnt as was the little ball of stuffing, it was actually very hard to cut it. 2 batons of carrot that were limp & soggy. 2 slices of pork that were hard to cut and quite chewy, my husband’s beef was also on the tough side. Also not enough gravy… We wanted to love it as the family that run it seemed lovely people, but left disappointed.

Perfection Dorchester and District Lions celebrated with a wonderful Christmas meal last night. The food was fantastic and although it was a large number the staff got the food out efficiently while it was hot. The staff were amazing and unbelievably efficient with everything. Thank you so much Ben and Leanne for making the evening so successfully. Definitely worth a visit any time not just for Christmas. X

Good find for Sunday lunch… A ood find for Sunday lunch today, with tasty & hearty home cooked food – especially since they recommend booking, and yet, still slotted us in at short notice when another establishment let us down (or rather told us to turn up when they had no availability)… Well done & great job The Brewers Arms!
